Cold CASE: Man With Illegal Gambling Ties Found Dead On Pennsylvania Highway

Charles Sherman was found dead on the east shoulder of Interstate 95 in Middletown on Jan. 25, 1978.

He had been shot to death, according to state police investigators.

Authorities allege that Sherman — who also went by the aliases Charlie Harris and Sherman Shikie — had deep ties to illegal gambling rackets in Northeast Philadelphia and Bristol.

At the time of his death, Sherman was living on the 1200 block of South 7th Street in South Philadelphia.
